From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in influence within the city.
Note: Spoilers for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of characters who will split off from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, separate from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
With an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.
This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven narrative style where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment show why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
First, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a intense initial meeting with the antagonists.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the campaign’s events—used the foes for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
Casimir then cleared his obligations and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, desires revenge.
- The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a hostile place.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the party reach locations they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and Wicander defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The target is marked for death by House Halovar.
This results in them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in search of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
Based on episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around next week, leaving the other eight participants to form the Questers and Schemers tables.
Viewers can expect finding out which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
